PINEHILL Hospital in Hitchin, which caters for NHS and private patients, has opened a new wing.
The extension at the private hospital run by Ramsay Health Care contains a new theatre and day surgery unit which will provide extra capacity.
Manager Paul Tempest said: "I'm delighted with the investment by Ramsay which underlines their commitment in developing services for the Herts community. Pinehill has always been an important provider of health care and this allows us to improve the quality and access for patients."
Hitchin MP Peter Lilley, who officially opened the new building on Friday, said: "As well as the medical improvements, the extension also creates new job opportunities for professionals and support staff, so it is making a significant contribution to the Hitchin economy.
