A museum that showcases Victorian education is using 21st century social media techniques to spread the word about its work as part of an international heritage week.
Museum Week starts today and the British Schools Museum in Queen Street, Hitchin, is joining more than 1,000 others across the globe using social networking site Twitter to reach out to its audience.
The museum will be asking the public for their photographs and memories of the museum, as well as running interactive games including voting for your favourite object.
Assistant Emily Shepperson said: “This is the second year this event has taken place.
“Social media is so important because it’s immediate, it helps to get our message out there.
“A Twitter account helps us interact with other museums across the globe and build an audience as it makes more people aware of the work we do.”
