A charity netball tournament in Hitchin has raised more than £2,600 for two good causes.

The tournament on Saturday, organised by Anna Roberts and Aimee McGrath and held at The Priory School, brought in cash for the East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity and Hitchin-based charity Lifegeta, which helps people with life-changing acquired conditions.

Malawian netball player Mary Waya, who coaches he Hatfield-based Benecos Mavericks, presented the winners with their trophies.

Hurley’s Ball Grabbers won the Response Personnel Cup, Jimmy’s Angels won Purly’s Plate, and The Hubsters won the Bartram Timber Trophy.

The annual tournament, which started with eight teams in 2012, had 25 sides take part this year.
