A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a house was burgled in Hitchin – and is set to appear before a crown court judge next month.

Arthur McDonagh was arrested on Friday – the day after the burglary in The Chilterns, a private street off Wymondley Road – following investigations by the North Herts local crime unit.

McDonagh, of Tichborne in Rickmansworth, was also arrested in connection with burglaries allegedly committed over the last two months in Isleworth, Elstree, Abbots Langley, Radlett and Watford.

He appeared at Hatfield Remand Court yesterday, and has been remanded into custody. He is next due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on October 27.
