A Hitchin town centre alleyway is cordoned off this morning after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man bleeding from his leg.
Police were called by the ambulance service to attend to the welfare of the man in the alley next to Shoe Zone in the High Street at about 5.15am.
Officers found the casualty bleeding from the leg. He has now been taken to hospital for further treatment.
Witnesses have described specks of blood visible up the road and on the pavement outside shops in Bancroft.
A force spokesman said: “Officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and an area has been cordoned off as part of this.”
