PUPILS at Highfield School in Letchworth GC were celebrating an outstanding crop of A level results today.

Chris Lewis, assistant head teacher and head of the sixth form, said: "We are delighted with our excellent A level and As level results and the vast majority of students have been able to access their first choice of university. Their success is down to the hard work of all the students and their staff."

The five outstanding Highfield students were Robert Garnett, who claimed four grade As in maths, chemistry, physics and biology and will be going to Imperial College London to study chemistry and molecular physics; Jasmine Saltwell got three As in English, drama and history and a B in German and is going to Durham to study English and German; Tamlyn Griggs achieved three As in history, psychology and RS and is going to Sheffield to study psychology and philosophy; Leah Ellis Stapleton got three As in biology, history and RS and an A in AS business studies and is going to read history, literature and culture of the Americas at Warwick University and Nicola Birch who got three As in maths, physics and psychology and is going to Exeter University to study maths and psychology.
