HGV vehicle strikes Hitchin bridge causing train delays

A lorry struck a bridge on Cambridge Road near to Hitchin railway station just before 3pm this afternoon causing delays on the London King’s Cross and Peterborough/Cambridge route.
Police confirmed a HGV vehicle struck the rail bridge but the vehicle has left the area with no injuries reported.
Network Rail has examined the bridge and train lines have been re-opened although disruption is likely to continue until at least 4.15pm.
