FIREFIGHTERS in Hertfordshire will be striking for four hours next Wednesday, it has been announced.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) says members will strike between noon and 4pm, with fire stations in Hertfordshire likely to be affected.
County Hall officials say that during those hours, crews will only respond to incidents where a person’s life is in danger.
Cllr Richard Thake, cabinet member for community safety, said: “While we recognise there are strong feelings on both sides of this national dispute, strike action in a key public service like this can only be to the detriment of residents.
“In the event that a strike does go ahead, we will have fewer resources available, but we will respond to incidents where people’s safety is in danger.”
