The number of diners who used a government scheme giving them money off their meals has been revealed.
Eat Out to Help Out allowed customers in August to get 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks, up to a value of £10 per person when eating or drinking in an establishment.
And in Hertfordshire, the scheme was used to full advantage at participating restaurants and cafes.
North Herts claimed the most meals at 191,000, St Albans was next on 181,000 and Welwyn Hatfield residents got a discount on 100,000 meals, Stevenage 58,000 and Hertsmere 151,000.
This means the treasury paid out £2 million in total in North Herts and St Albans, while Welwyn Hatfield residents that used Eat Out to Help Out were reimbursed to the total of £613,000, Hertsmere got £953,000 and Stevenage £406,000.
St Albans had the highest reimbursed average per meal at £7.15, while North Herts was low on £5.74.Hertsmere, Stevenage and Welwyn Hatfield were between £6 and £7.
