The high quality of care that staff at Lister Hospital give people with learning difficulties when they treat them has been recognised.
The day case surgery team at the Stevenage hospital have been awarded a Purple Star kite mark by Herts County Council’s Health and Community Services.
The unit’s nurse team manager, Karen Stephens-Green, said: “Hearing that we had been awarded a Purple Star was great news and is real recognition for the work of the day surgery team over the last 10 years.”
The award’s name comes from the purple folders that all people with learning disabilities carry when they go into hospital. They contain vital information about them, their needs and how to treat them sensitively and effectively.
