A Letchworth football club has been awarded funding to provide opportunities for young people from black and ethnic minority groups to promote inclusivity.

Khalsa Youth Football Academy has received a new investment of £21,393 for People’s Health Trust with money raised through the Health Lottery in the south east.

Baljinder Singh, head coach for the club, said: “Thanks to this funding we can support young people from black and minority ethnic groups who live in the Wilbury area to gain and practice leadership skills.

“Those taking part will also receive weekly mentoring from volunteers and then organise community hubs.”

The grant will provide weekly futsal sessions – a type of five-a-side indoor football – and will also allow for weekly mentoring and a community hub.
