THE HEADTEACHER of St Christopher School in Letchworth GC has left after two years in the post.
Donald Wilkinson, 51, asked to leave the post he had held since September 2004 for personal reasons.
His resignation took effect last Friday and staff, parents and students were informed at the end of last week.
Richard Palmer, who is currently head of the junior school, will act as headteacher until Mr Wilkinson's replacement is appointed.
Garth Pollard, chairman of the school's governors, said: We have thanked Donald for the contribution he has made to the school's development in the last two years.
"The substantially improved results at A-level and GCSE are a tribute to the work he did to ensure students achieved their potential.
"We wish him and his family well for the future.
