Patients registered to GP practices in Stevenage are being asked their views on a proposal to extend GP opening hours.
Practices are currently open from 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, with some open for longer on one or two weekdays and some Saturday mornings.
The proposal is to offer appointments every weekday evening and at weekends/early mornings depending on demand.
These appointments will not necessarily be at the surgery patients are registered with.
Beverley Flowers, chief executive of the East and North Herts Clinical Commissioning Group, which buys our region’s health services, said: “We want to ensure we design and develop health services that meet our local population’s needs and make the best use of limited resources and GP availability. To do that, we need patients’ views.”
