Julia Davies was horrified to hear from a resident that British troops in Afghanistan will not be able to use postal votes for the general election on May 6th.
She has discovered that Liberal Democrat MP, Nick Harvey, had already condemned this outrage and tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons. This EDM asked the government to extend the election timetable so that there would be an extra week between the election being called and the time for postal ballots to be returned.
'Not only did the Labour government send our troops to fight in an illegal war in Iraq, but now when they are fighting with equipment which has been regularly described as inadequate, they are not even able to vote in the general election!' said Julia Davies to fellow activists.
