The second of two public exhibitions displaying the masterplan for 600 homes to the east of Stevenage is taking place tomorrow.

The Gresley Park application – to the east of the town’s Chells Manor area and running the breadth of Gresley Way – has already been on display at Chells Park Pavilion on Wednesday, but can also be viewed at Aston Village Hall tomorrow.

The plans, which fall under East Herts District Council’s jurisdiction as the land is just outside the Stevenage borough border, have seen a Say No to Gresley Park campaign group set up in opposition – with concerns including fears about the demand it would put on the Stevenage road network and secondary schools, among many others.

On the leaflet promoting the exhibition, which runs at the New Park Lane venue from 9.30am until 1pm, it says: “Pigeon Land is promoting a high quality mixed-use scheme on land east of Stevenage. It is envisaged that the scheme will provide a range of homes, community facilities, a primary and pre-school, shops, extensive open space and landscaping. As part of the plans for a high quality sustainable neighbourhood a landscape-led Masterplan is being produced.”

Stevenage Liberal Democrats leader Robin Parker is among those who have been campaigning against the development and visited the exhibition on Wednesday, which he said was well attended.
