A SCOUTING group in Stevenage have received 1,000 to fund its minibus for another year and buy new sailing safety equipment.
Broadwater county councillor Matthew Hurst allocated the money to the 7th Stevenage Sea Scout Group from his locality budget.
"The minibus is used primarily to take the scouts to camps and sailing events. The grant received means that we can afford to fund the insurance for another year and keep the bus running," said Terry Howard speaking on behalf of the group.
"We were over the moon to receive the grant, as it means we can buy more buoyancy aids which need to be replaced every so often as this is such an important piece of equipment. If there's any money left over we plan to buy some more wet suits and safety helmets.
