A number of good Samaritans walked 12 miles along the ‘Hitchin Hoop’ to raise more than £1,000 for charity.
Seven members from the North Herts and Stevenage Samaritans took part in the dozen-mile tramp to raise cash for branch funds for the registered charity.
The group started the walk at 10am on Saturday from Market Place in Hitchin – where some of their colleagues had a publicity display as part of the wellbeing day held there – before heading over to the nature reserve at Oughtonhead Common.
From there they went to Ickleford and Wilbury Hills where they stopped for lunch before continuing to the nature reserve at Purwell Ninesprings and back to the Market Square for 3.30pm.
Chair of Friends, Alan Chaney, said: “We got back somewhat weary but very satisfied having raised so much. We were well rewarded with a beautiful day.”
