A 10 year old girl suffered minor abdominal injuries after being struck by a car in Stevenage this afternoon.

The incident happened in Chells Way at the junction with Columbus Close at 3.29 and nearby Fairlands Way was closed for 45 minutes by police while they investigated the incident.

The girl was taken to Lister Hospital by ambulance accompanied by her mother. The woman driver of the car was uninjured.

Earlier this afternoon a stretch of Six Hills Way, Stevenage, was closed for a short time after a car struck a lamp post at the junction with Homestead Moat. The woman driver was uninjured and did not need hospital treatment.
