APPLE tasting and a campaign to get people buying UK produce were just two of the events during Hitchin Apple Day on Saturday.
Apple and pear dishes, as well as expert advice from fruit expert Michael Clark from Tewin Orchard, attracted the crowds to the event in Market Place.
The event, organised by Hitchin Community Gar-dens, aimed to help people rediscover traditional varieties of apples that are no longer easy to find in the shops.
Organiser Vicky Wyer said: "The day was a huge success with an excellent turnout, despite the mixed weather."
Proceeds from Apple Day will go towards the pilot Social Enterprise gardening project for people of all abilities at the Triangle Community Garden.
