Jim, president of the Boro supporters' association, is the only remaining member of the club's famous A Team.
Boro chief executive Bob Makin said: "We are in constant contact with him through his son Lloyd. He has been inundated with visitors since it happened and his family are now asking for him to be left alone to help him recuperate.
