The award winning abstinence-based recovery charity, The Living Room Hertfordshire, is set to host its annual Dragon Boat Race day on Saturday at Fairlands Valley in Stevenage.
The Dragon Boat Race has become one of the most entertaining fixtures in Stevenage’s calendar of events.
During the day, the valley will echo to the sound of drums as teams of ten use the rhythm of their own drum-beater to race along a 200 metre course.
The fastest boats will make it to a knock out stage and then the final, before the champion boat prevails.
The Living Room Herts will once again be entering a boat into the competition.
“More than anything, this is a truly enjoyable occasion,” said Mark Wiseman, fundraising manager at TLRH.
“We might not win; we know we’re going to get cold and wet. We know we’re going to be exhausted, but we also know we’re going to have fun and, with the support of our friends and family cheering from the water’s edge, we’ll be proud to have done our best and raised money for The Living Room Herts.”
Those cheering from the side-lines will be kept refreshed and entertained by a BBQ and activities including a tombola and face painting.
With the weather set fair for the weekend, The Living Room Herts is expecting a good crowd to turn up and watch the races.
The BBQ and family fun day will be open to all that come along and support the event.
The Dragon Boat Race Day takes place from 930am to 230pm at Fairlands Valley Lakes, Six Hills Way, Stevenage with the BBQ and family fun day will take place next to Costello’s café.
The Living Room Hertfordshire is an award winning charity supporting individuals and their families to break free from addiction to substances and/or behaviours.
