STAFF at Stratton Upper School expect this year to be their best ever for GCSE results.

So far 64 per cent of students have gained five or more A* to C grades but this figure is expected to rise.

Unfortunately results for the school's newly introduced subject of agriculture were not processed in time for Thursday meaning students will have to wait until the new term for their results in that subject.

Headteacher Neil Bramwell said: "We are very pleased with the results and many subjects have seen a significant rise. Many students were shocked to do so well but we expected it. They are a good year group. They worked hard and fully deserved these good results.
