STUDENTS at Nobel School celebrated and shared tears of joy and jubilation.

An impressive 57 per cent of students achieved grades A* to C - a five per cent increase on last year.

Head teacher Keith Weekes said: "Overall we are delighted with the results. They reflect the effort and the commitment of both the staff and the students. The fact that we are up by five per cent on last year is encouraging and a positive sign for the future. What we hope is that every student, regardless of their results, reached their personal goal."

High flyer Jonathan Dunbar achieved seven A*s and four As.

He said: "I'm just shocked at the moment. It's not really sinking in. I didn't have a clue what I was going to get. I had tried to block it out of my mind but I'm really pleased."

Jonathan hasn't yet decided between a career in medicine and a career in journalism.

Friend Helen Jones was also delighted with her results. She achieved six A*s, three As and a B.

She said: "I'm so pleased I cried when I first opened the envelope and my form teacher hugged me.
