PUPILS at Knights Templar School, Baldock, managed to notch up a good set of results despite changes to the school leadership after the retirement of long-term headteacher Peter Chapman at Easter.

Seventy-three per cent of students managed to attain five or more A* to C grades.

Star pupils were Kiran (cor) McCann, who got 10 A*s and one A, and Hannah Brown, Zanel Dempers and Anthony Pettengell who all got nine A*s and two As.

Altogether, 20 students got 10 or more A*s or As, representing 10 per cent of the year group.

Deputy head Ian Burrows, who was acting headteacher for the summer term, said: "This was a pleasing result for the school. Despite all these changes going on we've still maintained our high standards and we are aiming to continue to improve that over the next three years, in particular with our specialist status.

"Because of these results and the popularity of the school we're looking to have one of the biggest intakes into the sixth form that the school has ever had."

New headteacher Andrew Pickering will start in September.
