Brave volunteers are set to walk over hot coals of up to 538ºC in Little Wymondley to raise money for a Letchworth-based hospice charity.

The popular Garden House Hospice Care Firewalk event is back, with participants engaging in the mind-over-matter exercise in support of the charity and the people they care for.

Pamela Wyles-Mullen will be taking part in memory of her mother, Helen, who was cared for by the hospice. She will be supported by her family on the day, and has already raised more than £780 in sponsorship. “Remember that you are raising funds for a great cause and that will help you to walk over those hot coals!” is Pamela’s message to those considering signing up.

“The staff at the hospice made mum’s time very special and showed how much they cared. In my opinion, that is worth donating to.” The event will start at 7pm on Friday, November 2, at Needham House Hotel.

More information, including how to sign up for the challenge, can be found at Garden House Hospice Care’s website www.ghhospicecare.org.uk.
