Parents and staff at Letchworth’s Garden City Academy are planning to build a new mindfulness room on the playground, which will provide a quiet and calming space for the children.

The mental wellbeing project will be a community build and sponsored in part by Letchworth-based Grace Improvements Ltd, which is run by GCA parent teacher association members Martyn and Jemma Schofield.

The school’s PTA has also been fundraising for the project, but more volunteers and donations are needed to complete the work – set to take place on December 30-31, and January 1.

PTA member Martyn said: “We really want to help children’s mental wellbeing and create a safe haven where they can move away from stress and anxiety which many children suffer from.We would be glad for any volunteers or donations. Also, any timber supplies would be great.”

Those interested in getting involved can email Martyn via m.scho@live.co.uk or by calling him on 07725 525388.
