TALENTED residents wowed the audience at the Stevenage mayor's annual charity concert.

The sell-out success at The Gordon Craig Theatre in the town included performances by more than 100 entertainers, whose talents ranged from singing and dancing to gymnastics and cheerleading.

Blues harmonica player Leslie Mortimer was one of five acts selected to perform through auditions for Stevenage Has Got Talent, which was organised by mayor Mick Patston.

Mr Mortimer stormed the show with renditions of Wooden Heart and other numbers which got the audience singing and dancing.

SG Ladies street dancers, who train at the Mentoring Basketball Academy Association Community Youth Building every Thursday, also had the audience captivated, with a dramatic dance performance set against a starry backdrop.

All profits from the concert, expected to exceed 1,000, will be donated to the mayor's Stevenage-based charities, which are the army, sea and air cadets, Stevenage Community Trust and Tracks - which provides care and support for pre-school children diagnosed with complex communication disorders, including autism.

Cllr Patston said: "I would like to thank everyone for making the annual charity concert a huge success - the performers, organisers, audience and especially our talented compere and coordinator Keith Baldwin and Rebecca Hughes. I've never had so much fun making money for a good cause!
