Car enthusiasts flocked to a town square on Saturday for the first Hitchin Market Auto Show.

More than 70 vehicles were displayed in Market Place and down by the riverside, including hot-rods, modified cars and custom cars – the majority owned by those living in the surrounding area.

Organised by Hitchin Markets and supported by Hitchin BID, the event was the brainchild of market stallholder Lez Reed.

He said: “It was a fantastic day and a brilliant atmosphere. These stunning, much-loved cars were shown in a terrific setting and the exhibitors were overwhelmed by the crowds interest in them. The day was a great success.”

The winner of the Car of the Day voted for by the public was a 1953 Ford Anglia owned by Colin Clinch.
