RED nose day proved a bit of a wet nose day on Friday but the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of those involved in raising money for Comic Relief.

A record £75 million was raised on the night but it was not only Jessie J that cut off her hair. Nine-year-old Finley Cole, a pupil at Almond Hill Primary School in Stevenage, also decided to have his head shaved and Guy Sharpe from North Hertfordshire Homes went Mohican Red.

BT handled 458,000 calls to the donation line during the live TV show, peaking at 200 calls per second.

This is the 25 anniversary of the event and around Comet country there were silent discos, pyjama days and golf days with plenty of fancy dress thrown in.
