Despite the unsettled weather, a fun day on Saturday proved a “fantastic” success.

Baldock Fun Day, held in Avenue Park, was organised by Baldock Arts and Heritage Centre, but funded through a Groundwork UK grant obtained by the Baldock Society.

Organiser Alison Gentle said: “Although we were on the receiving end of a drizzly shower for setting up and for the first hour of the day, we were relieved and exceedingly grateful that the drizzle dried up and enabled so many people to attend the event.

“We all had a fantastic day. The giant Scalextric went down a storm, crazy golf was well attended and, once dry, the bouncy castle was in use all afternoon.

“Our Squiggly Wiggly circus skills workshop was great fun and loads of children tried the various skills being taught, much to the amusement of their parents and great fun for the kids.

“We are very grateful to everyone who gave their time to help out on the day.”

The crowds were entertained with music while visitors wandered around the Baldock Country Market.

The Baldock Arts and Heritage Centre has just signed a 99-year lease on the former town hall building in Baldock and all proceeds from the fun day will go towards its refurbishment.
