STUDENTS and staff at Priory School, Hitchin, took to their feet last week to raise money for Sport Relief.

Many of the 700 students who took part ran their mile in fancy dress costumes, ranging from a pantomime cow to knights of the realm. Over £1,000 has been raised so far.

* More than 200 people completed the Sport Relief mile in Stevenage organised by Fairlands Valley Spartans.

It was staged at Ridlins athletic stadium on Saturday.

Town mayor Simon Speller started the main event soon after completing his own Sport Relief mile in seven minutes 27 seconds.

On the day, Matthew Whiddington was the fastest runner in a time of 6:09 and Jak Melvin recorded 6:16 to become runner-up.

* Pupil Ollie Petts went the extra mile for Sport Relief by single-handedly organising a run at Roebuck Primary School, Stevenage, on Friday which raised over £170.
