Hitchin will hold its annual Christmas Lights switch in a few hours – with this year’s event running alongside the town’s growing Street Food Monthly.

The increasingly popular festive occasion will also see music from Choir on Fire from 5pm, Covenant Community Choir at 6pm, with the tree lights being turned on at 6.30pm – followed by music from Alex Bay.

Hitchin town centre manager Keith Hoskins said: “It’s such a great event which is supported by the whole community that we don’t actually need to pay anyone to turn the lights on – as people come along purely because they love the friendly, family atmosphere.”

Former BBC Blue Peter presenter Stuart Miles will also be there to help with the fun and festivities.
