Council tax in Stevenage looks set to be frozen after leaders of the borough council, Herts County Council and Herts Police proposed no increase in their precepts.
Stevenage Borough Council cabinet members recommended a freeze at a meeting of the executive last night, a proposal that will go to a vote of the full council on February 29.
A similar proposal by Herts County Council’s cabinet will be voted on by the council on February 21, while Herts Police Authority said they are working on the basis of no increase with a final decision expected next month.
The government announced it will financially support authorities that do not put up their precepts at a level equivalent to 2.5 per cent for the year 2012 to 2013.
