A man faces a bill of over 900 after pleading guilty to benefit fraud.
Aaron Hendricks, 40, of Monklands, Letchworth GC, appeared at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with claiming 2,161.57 in tax benefits from North Herts District Council (NHDC) he was not entitled to.
Hendricks was fined 300 and ordered to pay 600 towards the council's costs and a 15 victim's surcharge.
Cllr Terry Hone, NHDC portfolio holder for finance said: "We have one message for residents who claim benefits they are not entitled to - NHDC will not tolerate this kind of behaviour.
"We will always act promptly and we will prosecute. Don't be tempted to keep quiet if your circumstances change. It simply isn't worth it.
