OFFICERS raided a three-bedroom house which had been turned into a cannabis factory.

The police were tipped off to the house in Hydean Way in Stevenage by members of the public who knew what to look for thanks to publicity in The Comet.

A total of 320 plants with a street value of about £60,000 were found on Friday at 9am.

Officers forced entry to the house but no one was inside.

Acting Sgt Stefan Wackett said: "It looks like someone could have been living here but no one was home at the time of the raid.

"Because of the articles in The Comet about previous cannabis factories the public have become more aware of what to look out for."

A man living nearby, who did not want to be named, said: "It is a surprise but I am glad the police are taking care of it."

If you have any information about the cannabis factory, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

This was the fourth cannabis factory house to be raided in the town as part of Operation Miss.
