Four women were arrested after a brawl which caused carnage in a Stevenage pub before it spilled onto the street outside.

The fight broke out in the Drapers Arms in the High Street at around 11.20pm on Friday.

Police were called a short time later and officers had to restrain the women who, according to bystanders, were attacking anyone they could.

One man said: “All we saw were the doors of the pub slam open and loads of women and a fella start attacking anyone they could.

“I’m not sure what happened inside the pub but our friend got attacked for no reason. She was just walking past the pub and wasn’t anything to do with it.

“There was loads of screaming and shouting and they started smashing plant pots.

“It was total carnage. That is the worst fight I have seen in Stevenage and I have lived here all my life.”
