Four women were arrested after a brawl which caused carnage in a Stevenage pub before it spilled onto the street outside.

The fight broke out in the Drapers Arms in the High Street at around 11.20pm on Friday.

Police were called a short time later and officers had to restrain the women who, according to bystanders, were attacking anyone they could.

One man said: “All we saw were the doors of the pub slam open and loads of women and a fella start attacking anyone they could.

“I’m not sure what happened inside the pub but our friend got attacked for no reason. She was just walking past the pub and wasn’t anything to do with it.

“There was loads of screaming and shouting and they started smashing plant pots.

“It was total carnage. That is the worst fight I have seen in Stevenage and I have lived here all my life.”

Hayley Jenkins, of Ellis Avenue, was arrested and subsequently charged with a section 5 public order offence.

The 25-year-old and has been bailed to appear before magistrates on Monday, November 9.

A 23-year-old woman, from Enfield, was arrested on suspicion of assault and a racially aggravated public order offence. She has been bailed until November 30.

A 26-year-old woman, from Enfield, was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and has been issued with a fixed penalty notice.

A 22-year-old woman, from Stevenage, was arrested for a public order offence and has been issued with a fixed penalty notice.
