A road remains closed and four people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a bridge yesterday evening in Walkern.

A white Fiat 500 was travelling along the High Street when, for reasons unknown at this stage, it crashed into a bridge near the junction with Benington Road.

Four people were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge – two with serious injuries and two with slight injuries.

Police left the scene at 1.33am and the road remains closed while Highways assess the damage to the bridge.
