The cash boost for the Howard Cottage Housing Association has come from the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation to fund a home support worker for the elderly.

The scheme primarily helps people in Letchworth GC living in owner occupied or privately rented properties to maintain independence in their homes by providing safety checks, gardening, bathroom adaptations plus a wide range of practical help and advice on benefits and helping with the paperwork.

Other grants approved by the Foundation's board and its small grants committee in January included: 32,242 to the North Herts and District Citizens Advice Bureau towards continued staffing costs, 250 to Letchworth Sinfonia towards its New Year concert, 435 to Letchworth Short Mat Bowls Club for new club shirts, 600 to City Chorus towards T-shirts for the new community signing group and 250 to RHAPSODE to help towards the costs of a two-day music and drama workshop.
