A former Premier League player paid a visit to a Shefford school yesterday as part of his football school's partnership with them.

Jack Collision who played for West Ham United and played at international level for Wales dropped into Samuel Whitbread Academy on Shefford Road to give a speech to enthralled pupils and staff – and to raise awareness of his popular football programmes.

Jack told the Comet: “We’re keen to give football-loving 16-18 year olds in the area an opportunity to play more football in partnership with ourselves.

“It is something which is brand new to the area and both ourselves and Samuel Whitbread are really excited about the opportunities it will present kids in the long terms with some great exit routes following the programme.”

There will be an open day and one-hour training session hosted by Jack at the school between 4.30pm to 6pm on Thursday, February 9 – followed by a presentation for all parents and players sharing relevant information regarding the programme.

It will also be a great opportunity for parents to ask any questions they may have about the scheme.

JC Soccer School will also be holding a February half term camp at Robert Bloomfield, Shefford on Wednesday, February 15, Thursday, February 16 and Friday, February 17.
