A FORMER professional footballer and manager of the then Stevenage Athletic Football Club has celebrated his diamond wedding anniversary.
Jim Briscoe, of Longthorne Avenue, Stevenage, married his wife Mary in South Yorkshire on Boxing Day in 1945.
Jim, manager of the football club and an ex-Sheffield Wednesday player told The Comet: "The whole family celebrated with us on the evening of Boxing Day. It was perfect."
He said his plans for the future centre around Stevenage Borough Football Club where he is president of the supporters association and works behind the scenes.
He said: "I want to see them get into the League. I am certain they will do it if not this season then next."
Jim 84 and Mary, 80, have three children Linda, Lloyd and Russell and five grandchildren.
