A FORMER cadet made a flying visit to his old ATC squadron recently.

James Coates returned to see old friends at 22 Sandy Squadron ATC to talk about his new career as an air trooper with the Army Air Corps.

James is now completing phase two of his training at Middle Wallop in Hampshire which includes ground crew training on the Lynx, Gazelle and Apache helicopters, re-fuelling signals and taking his HGV driving test in a few weeks time.

His cadet friends were really pleased to see him and listened with interest about his training.

James said: "I am really enjoying it in the Army Air Corps. It's very hard work, especially getting up early in the morning, but it is worth it and I am really glad I joined."

At the moment 22 Squadron is actively recruiting cadets, both male and female age 13 plus. If you are interested log on to the squadron's website at www.sandy-air cadets.org.uk
