The police force met Parcelforce when a police car was involved in a collision with a van on Friday.
The car, a marked, white Vauxhall Astra, was answering an immediate response, with its sirens activated and was travelling eastwards on the A505.
As it passed through red traffic lights at the junction with Willian Way and Norton Way South, Letchworth GC, at about 1.50pm, it was in collision with the Iveco post van. The road was temporarily closed and the van driver was taken to Lister hospital where he was treated for a shoulder injury.
Police are appealing for witnesses to call Sgt Pat Jones at the Hitchin road policing unit on 01462 425055.
