Recognised as the most squalid of footpaths and which starts at Pix Green at the junction of Old Oak close and finishes at the bypass was cleaned up by ACORN members recently. 14 sacks of rubbish mainly consisting of alcopop bottles and lager cans were collected in a 4.5 hour operation. Dog fouling was also a severe problem, signs have been put up to remind dog walkers of the serious threat to the health of those that spend their time cutting the paths. The public are asked to report anyone seen fouling or littering the path as last summer volunteers were collecting four bags of rubbish every two weeks. Mid Beds Council are arranging pick-up of the sacks. Recognition must be given to Brian and Katie Juffs and Madeline Purdon who gave up their time to undertake this odious task. The group would like to recognise the efforts made by Heather Smith who clears the High Street and Woodland Chase on a regular voluntary basis.
