A food store has reopened and created jobs in Knebworth following a £500,000 refurbishment.

The Co-op, in London Road, celebrated its reopening on Friday, May 11, which has created two jobs.

Children from the Knebworth Primary and Nursery School were among the guests at the relaunch.

The store will also bring a funding boost to good causes locally through its Membership Scheme.

Members receive a five pert cent reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with the Co-op donating a further one per cent to local causes.

Those include the Friends of Knebworth School, an appeal to reinstate the Datchworth School clock tower, and the Knebworth Scout and Guide Group – which is raising funds to modernise its scout hut.

Stephen Allsey, area manager for the Co-op, said: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to carry out such a significant investment in Knebworth.

“We are proud to be part of the community, and are committed to ensuring our stores are a local hub, contributing to local life.”
