A police dog attending the scene of a reported burglary in Hitchin led his handler to another address where five suspected drug dealers were arrested.

Police Dog Blue was part of the group deployed to a house in Hine Way at 3.13am on Saturday, March 25, after reports of a burglary in progress.

Blue led his handler to nearby flat, where four men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of burglary and class B drug possession with intent to supply.

The five people arrested are a 19-year-old man from Hitchin, a 19-year-old woman from Hitchin, and three men from north London – a 26-year-old from Stoke Newington, a 29-year-old from Tottenham, and a 28-year-old from Enfield.

All five have been released on police bail, with the three men from London set to return on May 18. The pair from Hitchin have been bailed until the following day.
