Police have issued a warning after fireworks which can be ‘extremely dangerous’ were stolen from a Codicote farm.

The burglary took place at a farm off Whitwell Road between noon on Tuesday and about 9.45am on Wednesday when professional display fireworks – which can only be ignited electronically – were taken.

Investigating officer PC Chris Suckling said: “As igniting these fireworks manually is extremely dangerous, I’d like to warn whoever is responsible for this offence for their own safety, and would advise them to return the fireworks to their rightful owners.

“I’d also like to appeal to anyone who knows who could be responsible for this crime, or who is aware of anyone acting suspiciously in the local areas during the stated times, to please come forward as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Suckling via the non-emergency number 101.
