A YOUNG family in Stevenage escaped from their burning home this afternoon (Tuesday) with the help of one of their neighbours.
A young couple and their baby, as well as one of their mothers, had to flee their house in Siddons Road after it caught fire and were helped to safety by one of their neighbours.
The fire service were alerted to the blaze at 4.13pm by a neighbour’s son following reports that the roof was well alight.
Firefighters from five fire engines fought the flames and had to cut away at the roof to put the fire out.
The blaze has now been extinguished.
