Firefighters responding to an incident in Stevenage last night suffered “serious verbal abuse” and “threatening behaviour” from a gang of people.
White Watch were called to Fairlands Way at 9.25pm to reports of a fire in the open.
Herts Fire Control tweeted: “On arrival, crews found a small fire which was quickly extinguished. Believed to have been started deliberately.”
But the firefighters were subjected to abuse while on the call-out.
Herts Fire Control tweeted: “During @stevenage_fire’s last incident on Fairlands Way in Stevenage, the crew experienced serious verbal abuse from members of the public involving threatening behaviour and also kicking the fire engine. Control quickly requested the police and crew withdrew from scene.”
