Police are hunting arsonists after a fire was started in Hitchin last night which caused damage to a company’s stock.
The blaze, which broke out at the back of the Next store in Bancroft just after 9pm, saw a dustbin catch alight before brickwork at the back of the store was damaged. Smoke got inside the building and affected stock, as well as neighbouring buildings.
Next is open and trading normally this morning.
No-one was injured and officers are currently checking CCTV footage.
If you have any information call police on non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference number G1/15/238.
