Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in the early hours of this morning (Monday).

Crews from Baldock and Letchworth GC and Stevenage were called at 1.33am to a derelict house on Clothall Common, Baldock.

On arrival, the roof and top floor of the house was well alight. Crews tackled the blaze for more than four hours. The fire was put out by 6am.

The cause of the fire has been listed as deliberate or doubtful. And a fire investigation is underway.

Crews were still at the scene until 8am this morning carrying out safety checks.
